Moonshadow TQC Port Stephens Nelson Bay Dolphins

We were beginning to have whale withdrawals with unfavourable sea conditions over the past few day not allowing our vessel to head off shore for our Whale Watch Cruise. So as you can imagine we were very eager to get out to see our whale friends again. Captain James has cruised MV Osprey out to around the 100 metre depth mark, we have quickly located a beautiful Humpback mum and her calf spending a lot of time on the surface of the water – the theory is they were either working out which way they needed to head for the southern oceans or mum was waiting for an escort of another adult whale to join her on their southern migration to assist with looking after her calf.

The Common Dolphins also join in on the fun by riding the bow wave on the front of the vessel, they love to see if they can out race the boat. Yes, the dolphins win each time!
