Whale Watching Moonshadow TQC Cruises Port Stephens

Absolutely beautiful conditions to be cruising in today. Sunny, warm, a slight breeze with nice smooth sea conditions off shore. As we headed out off shore we first came across a pod of whales that seemed to be very interested in a smaller private boat that had two very excited barking dogs on board. We tried to see if by us coming into the equation it would entice the whales to come over our way, but they were far too inquisitive in these two four legged creatures making such a noise above water.

We continued on our search and could see a few more pods of humpbacks heading south with some breaching in the distance, and a few tail lobs a little closer to us. A pod of common dolphins were enjoying the conditions just off Fingal Island and although we didn’t have the chance to make it past Cabbage Tree Island this morning, we did have a lone fur seal putting on quite the show in the marina where our vessel is docked. As our passengers were boarding MV Osprey, this happy seal was enjoying the sunshine and looking for his ‘catch of the day’, which he did find, but instead decided to have a play with it for a few minutes swirling, throwing and diving for it before swimming off to enjoy it’s lunch.
