4 JUNE 2026
Despite a very windy day offshore, sea conditions remained comfortable, allowing us to head out in search of our migrating humpback whales. It didn’t take long before we spotted multiple blows in the distance, a promising sign that whales were nearby.
Making our way towards the activity, we were rewarded with an energetic juvenile humpback whale putting on an incredible display. Guests were treated to repeated breaches and powerful tail slaps as this young whale showcased its playful behaviour. We spent some quality time observing this spectacular individual as it continued to delight everyone on board.
After enjoying the action, we continued our journey north past Fingal Lighthouse, where we encountered another juvenile humpback. To our excitement, this whale was also in a playful mood, launching itself clear of the water in a series of impressive breaches.
Days like these are a wonderful reminder of the energy and curiosity of younger whales as they make their way along the coast during the annual migration. While the wind certainly made its presence known today, the whales more than made up for it with their spectacular displays.
