What a spectacular Sunday it was on the waters of Port Stephens, with clear blue skies, calm aqua seas, and plenty of whale activity to keep our passengers smiling all day long.
The morning cruise aboard Envision was treated to several Humpback Whales making their annual migration north along Australia’s famous Humpback Highway. One whale in particular stole the show, spending an extended period relaxing near the vessel. Passengers enjoyed watching this incredibly chilled whale rolling onto its back in the gentle swell, lifting its enormous pectoral fins from the water in playful pec slaps, and seemingly soaking up the beautiful sunshine alongside us.
As Envision made her way back towards the marina, the excitement continued when a pod of curious Oceanic Bottlenose Dolphins appeared. The dolphins delighted guests with their playful nature, escorting the vessel and providing the perfect ending to an already unforgettable morning on the water.
The afternoon cruise also encountered several whales in the area, with numerous distant blows spotted throughout the trip. However, the highlight came courtesy of a lone Humpback Whale that appeared just as interested in us as we were in it. The whale approached Envision and began circling the vessel, giving passengers an incredible close-up encounter. Guests watched in awe as the giant marine mammal glided gracefully alongside the boat, passing so close that everyone onboard could truly appreciate its immense size and power.
Days like these remind us why whale watching in Port Stephens is such a special experience. Every cruise offers something unique, and today’s encounters showcased both the playful curiosity and gentle nature of these magnificent creatures.
With the whale season now well underway, we can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings on the waters of Port Stephens.
