Whale Watching Moonshadow TQC Cruises Port Stephens Lee Matthews

After being land-locked for several days due to weather and sea conditions, Moonshadow-TQC Cruises was finally back out on the water today—and what a rewarding return it was!

Not far from Little Island, we encountered a pair of humpback whales making their way north. Unlike the competitive and energetic displays we often see during migration, this duo was cruising leisurely, offering passengers a peaceful and graceful view of these majestic giants moving through Port Stephens waters.

Before heading back to port, we made a stop at Cabbage Tree Island, where the ever-entertaining Australian Fur Seals were hauled out on the rocks, soaking up the sunshine. Their playful nature and curious glances never fail to delight.

The cruise finished perfectly at Bagnalls Beach, where a pod of our local Port Stephens Bottlenose Dolphins joined the cruise. Gliding effortlessly through the clear waters, they provided an uplifting finale to a wonderful day back on the water.

After days of waiting, today reminded us why Port Stephens is such a world-class marine destination—whales, seals, and dolphins all in one cruise. It’s good to be back!
