13th September 2020

We were off to a quiet start on this mornings whales, we spotted two whales that seemed to be enjoying a lazy Sunday, popping up to the surface here and there with 15 minute sounding dives.

We did however spend time with a large pod of common dolphins and got to see a group of seals sun-baking off the rocks.

For the afternoon whale watch cruise aboard the Hinchinbrook Explorer we have cruised past the Fingal Island Lighthouse off shore to a depth of around 60 meters of water to find two friendly Humpback Whales. The whales have shown their strength and power with a couple of tail throws creating large amounts of white water and splash! They have come in nice and close to the vessel at one stage.

Before heading for home, we have cruised up to Cabbage Tree Island to see the seals resting on the rocks, and then spotted a pod of Bottlenose Dolphins at the Yaccaba Headland.
