Port Stephens has turned on a spectacular spring day, with warm temps and light breezes greeting us this morning.
We have sighted a lone whale during our morning whale watch cruise aboard the Hinchinbrook Explorer, this guy was leaving his north bound travel quite late into the season. The whale was cruising at a speed of approx 8 knots and spent a good amount of time on the surface of the water, even breaching once!
We have hit the jackpot this afternoon, with the crew on the Hinchinbrook Explorer reporting multiple pods of whales being sighted, and very active Humpback Whales breaching half a dozen times. The vessel has been caught amongst the pods and then one whale traveling on its own, which ever direction passengers looked they would have been happy with the number of whales in the vicinity.
