4 SEPTEMBER 2025
This morning’s whale watching cruise delivered plenty of excitement out on the water. Guests were treated to the sight of three pods of Humpback Whales heading south, putting on a spectacular show with breaches and powerful tail slaps. The energy on board was electric as these giants of the sea displayed their strength and playful nature.
Further offshore near Broughton Island, two additional pods were spotted also making their journey south. Unlike the earlier groups, these whales were focused travelers, cruising steadily without the acrobatics – a reminder of the different moods and behaviours we’re lucky enough to witness during the season.
Adding to the wildlife encounters, the rugged cliffs of Cabbage Tree Island were alive with Australian Fur Seals, basking on the rocks and swimming in the shallows. While dolphins eluded us today, the combination of whales and seals made for an unforgettable morning on the water.
As the Humpback Highway continues its southbound migration, each cruise offers something new – from playful antics to peaceful traveling pods. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
