It may have been a little quieter on the whale front this morning, but our crew still managed to track down a fantastic encounter out on the water!
We located one large adult humpback beyond the islands, initially spotted in the distance. Our crew headed north to catch up with this magnificent traveller, and it was well worth the effort! Once alongside, the whale put on a great display, treating us to plenty of impressive pectoral fin slaps as it cruised through the water.
We also had a fantastic pod of common oceanic dolphins out offshore, making the most of our bow waves and putting on a lovely display as they surfed alongside the vessel.
Over at Cabbage Tree Island, we spotted two Australian fur seals enjoying a relaxing morning, lounging about on the rocks!
Conditions were a little bumpy and windy out on the water today, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying some wonderful wildlife encounters.
One whale, plenty of dolphins and a couple of sleepy seals – not a bad morning exploring the beautiful waters of Port Stephens!
