31 OCTOBER 2024
This last week of our whale watching season for 2024 is proving day after day that it’s been one of our best seasons yet. Today did not disappoint, even this late in the season with our morning cruise locating a pod of 6-8 whales in a massive heat run. And the best part was with so much activity and movement they ended up being pretty close to us, so it was an easy decision to switch off the engine and just sit with them for what felt like around 2hrs of our trip, it was too good to leave. Just to add to the excitement we also had a huge pod of common dolphins being a bit pesky and surfing the pressure waves off the whales.
When we did decide to move on and make our way back and across to Cabbage Tree Island, we saw a few fur seals basking in the spring sun and then coming back into Nelson Bay we had a huge pod of bottlenose dolphins riding the bow wave of our boat.
