Whale Watching Moonshadow TQC Cruises Port Stephens Lee Matthews

Whale Watching Update – A Tranquil Day on the Humpback Highway

Today’s cruise aboard Moonshadow-TQC offered passengers a truly serene day on the water. Under beautiful, calm conditions, we set course along the Humpback Highway in search of migrating whales.

Our crew located a single Humpback Whale enjoying a peaceful journey south. Earlier in the day, this whale had been seen pectoral fin slapping — a behaviour often used for communication or play — but by the time we caught up, they had slipped into “cruise mode,” gliding effortlessly through the calm seas.

As we made our way back toward the marina, nature provided one last treat — a delightful pod of Common Dolphins appeared and joined us for the ride home. Their playful energy and graceful leaps beside the vessel brought wide smiles to everyone on board, reminding us why Port Stephens is such a special place to experience marine life in its natural habitat.

Every day on the water tells a different story, and even quieter encounters like today highlight the beauty and unpredictability of whale watching. Join us tomorrow for another adventure on the Humpback Highway with Moonshadow-TQC Cruises.
