Today aboard MV Osprey, our guests were treated to one of those unforgettable experiences that makes whale watching in Port Stephens so extraordinary.
We spent quality time with three curious Humpback Whales who decided to check us out as much as we were watching them. The whales mugged the vessel, circling slowly and surfacing just metres away. Each exhale echoed across the water, followed by clouds of mist that delighted everyone on deck.
In a playful twist, the whales even blew bubbles beneath the surface. Their curiosity and calm presence created a magical moment, leaving guests in awe of their size, grace, and intelligence.
And for some lucky passengers, it was a day they’ll never forget – they experienced “whale snot” for the very first time! A close-up (and slightly salty!) reminder of just how near these gentle giants came.
Encounters like these highlight the wonder of the Humpback Highway and the privilege of observing these magnificent animals in their natural environment.
