This mornings 10am Whale Watch cruise on Spirit of Port we were mugged by two very inquisitive humpbacks just off Boondelbah Island!
Mugging is when a whale or more than one whale comes up very close to the boat as if to be wanting to get a closer look at us. They’ll usually circle around the boat, go underneath, spy hopp and basically do everything they can to figure out who we are and what we’re doing.
This couple spy hopped nice and close to us, with around 7 min sounding dives and were heading north in their migration journey.
On our way back we also located a pod of common bottlenose dolphins off Yacabba Headlands.
