Whale Sightings

Back to Whale Sightings

21 MAY 2023

Sunday morning started off rather chilly, all the winter woollies of jacket, scarf and a beanie were certainly needed to keep warm whilst on the whale watch cruise aboard the Hinchinbrook Explorer. As the vessel headed out through the heads at Shoal Bay the crew spotted two whales inside Fingal Island, they were having a great time with lots of pec slapping the surface of the water. As we approached the pod of whales they did become a little quieter and started to head in a north east direction swimming along the outside of the off shore island of Boondelbah Island.

Coming back into the Bay we did see a pod of the inshore Bottlenose Dolphins near to the Yaccaba headland.
