Whale Sightings

The morning cruise had everyone on the edge of their seats! Our first sighting was of a group of humpback whales travelling south, with one group spending some time at the surface and showing off with some spectacular tail lobbing. Then, just as quickly as they appeared, they seemed to disappear!

The group soon joined up with another pod, creating an even more exciting encounter. The whales then disappeared beneath the surface for a long, deep dive, leaving us wondering where they had gone. We searched the area and thought we may have lost them completely.

Then, out of nowhere, the whales reappeared — and this time they were right around the boat! The curious humpbacks began circling the vessel, occasionally coming close enough to touch the boat. Having these magnificent animals so close was an absolutely incredible experience and certainly one our passengers won’t forget in a hurry.

The afternoon cruise was a very different experience. Despite searching far and wide across the whale grounds, unfortunately we weren’t able to locate any humpback whales. As any experienced whale watcher knows, wildlife encounters are never guaranteed, and the ocean can certainly keep us guessing!

Although the whales remained elusive, we were still rewarded with a sighting of common dolphins offshore, giving passengers another opportunity to enjoy the incredible marine life found along our coastline.

Today’s cruises were a wonderful reminder of just how unpredictable whale watching can be. One moment you’re wondering if you’ve lost the whales, and the next you’re watching them circle the boat at incredibly close range. That’s the magic of being out on the water — you simply never know what might happen next!
