Lots of mothers, calves and their escorts were the flavour of today’s cruises, with lots of behavior lessons being taught. It’s such a lovely time of the season to see all the new calves coming through with lots of activity as they learn their new skills in the water. We had pectoral fin slapping, tail lobs & breaches to keep our passengers entertained. A rare sighting of a flying fish was captured so perfectly by the incredible Lee Matthews – click through for the magnificent photo.
During our afternoon cruise we had an unexpected and rare sighting of a humpback feeding, while we also watched another mother, calf and their escort just off Boondelbah Island. Cruising past the island we also spotted around 6 Australian fur seals lapping up the sunny skies, some bottlenose dolphins coming in through the two headlands, and three sea eagles soaring above.
