MOONSHADOW TQC CRUISES PORT STEPHENS WHALE WATCHING

We were treated to perfect conditions out on the water today, with glassy seas and clear skies making for an unforgettable experience across both our morning and afternoon cruises. Our morning cruise took us through the scenic gap between Tomaree and Yacaaba Headlands, where we located three humpback whales making their way north on their annual migration. While these gentle giants were focused on travel and didn’t put on a show with any breaches or tail slaps, it was still incredible to watch them cruise by in such calm waters.

After spending time with the whales, we headed over to Cabbage Tree Island, where a group of Australian fur seals were soaking up the sun on the rocks. Just as we arrived, one of the seals slipped into the water with a splash — a perfect wildlife moment! The afternoon cruise brought even more action. Just off the coast, we encountered a large pod of common dolphins, riding the bow and darting through the crystal-clear water — always a crowd favourite! Not far from the dolphins, we spotted another four humpback whales, also heading north on their journey.

With time against us, we weren’t able to visit the seals again in the afternoon, but with such incredible encounters and picture-perfect sea conditions, no one was left disappointed.
