Blue skys and sunshine have returned for a glorious day of whale watch cruise at Port Stephens. Our morning whale watch cruise aboard the Hinchinbrook Explorer have spotted quite a large pod of 4 – 5 Humpback Whales. All whales have spent a good amount of time on the surface of the water, at times moving their position closer to the boat giving our passenger a close encounter. We have viewed a number of beautiful large whale tails as they dove beneath the water surface creating a waterfall effect with the water cascading off the tail.
We have picked up a pod of Humpback Whales close to the Fingal Island Lighthouse during our afternoon cruise, one of the whales has taken an interest in our vessel coming in close at one stage and showing all our passenger a beautiful display of their unique tail as they dove under the water. We have also been joined by a pod of Common Dolphins who delighted all onboard with their acrobatic display as they swam and leapt out of the water. Before turning to the dock we have cruised toward Cabbage Tree Island to view the cheeky seal basking in the winter sunshine on the rocks of the island.
