The search for the mighty Humpback Whale can be a game of patience and persistence with whale activity along the Whale Highway at Port Stephens changing their behaviours from day to day. Today’s whales have been a little difficult to follow as they swam on their north bound journey to the warm waters of Queensland, at times the pods of Humpback Whales were spending between 8 – 12 minutes on sounding dives. A sounding dive allows the whales to get their bearing of their location and if they are heading in the right direction.
