Eco Wildlife Explorer
The fast, fun, and most scenic way to explore the Port Stephens Marine Park!
Cruising through the spectacular waters of the Port Stephens Marine Park, this adventure takes you beyond the usual sightseeing routes to explore pristine coastlines, rugged outer islands, hidden coves and thriving marine habitats. Venture past the iconic Tomaree and Yacaaba Headlands, cruise through Murphy’s Gap and, weather permitting, journey towards the stunning outer islands including Cabbage Tree Island — one of the region’s most important wildlife sanctuaries.
Throughout the journey, our experienced crew provide engaging and in-depth commentary on the incredible marine ecosystem that makes Port Stephens one of Australia’s most diverse coastal environments. Learn about the resident bottlenose dolphins that call these waters home year-round, the seasonal humpback whale migration, local seabird colonies, island conservation, and the unique marine habitats found throughout the bay and offshore islands.
Keep watch as we search for a variety of marine wildlife in their natural environment. Depending on the season and conditions, sightings may include:
- Resident Bottlenose Dolphins
- Humpback Whales (seasonal from May – November)
- Australian Fur Seals
- Little Penguins
- Sea Turtles

The MV Osprey can get into shallower water, meaning we can venture into areas the other vessels cannot, however the MV Osprey is not equipped with a boomnet.
Dolphin Discovery Cruise (1.5hr) just has the boomnet. The boomnet is activated on the return journey to the marina. The Dolphin Discovery Cruise stays inshore to find our resident Bottlenose Dolphins.
Splash and Slide Dolphin Cruise (2hr) stops to activate the slide which lands into the open waters. The boomnet is activated on the return journey to the marina. We recommend confident swimmers for this cruise if they wish to utilise the slide.
