Whale Sightings

Back to Whale Sightings

9 JULY 2023

The Humpback Whales were a little tricky to locate during our 10am whale watch cruise, but the persistence of the crew paid off as we cruised south past the Fingal Island Lighthouse. What began as two separate pods of around 5 – 6 whales, joined into the one pod. There was a bit of activity on display of tail slapping the surface of the water. The two pods have again separated with a pod of 2-3 whales swimming towards the Hinchinbrook Explorer. The Off Shore Common Short Beak Dolphins make an appearance in amongst the Humpback, and not to be outdone  they have put on an amazing display of agility and speed as they rode the bow wave, leaping out of the water.
