7 JULY 2025

The sun is out, the skies are blue and its school holidays. Why not join Moonshadow-TQC Cruises on a once in a lifetime Whale Watch adventure these school holidays. Its for all ages, young and old. We can never get enough of seeing whales out on the Humpback highway and today is no exception to the rule.
Passenger aboard the the Hinchinbrook Explorer have been able to spot breaching whales as we approached a pod of two Humpback Whales, but as we got closer the whales have gone back to swimming along, although we can see another pod further off in the distance.
MV Osprey cruisers were escorted out of the heads by our resident Bottlenose Dolphins. Although the whales this morning were laying a bit low, there is still lots of pods migrating north. We had a show from one whale toward the end of the cruise with a breach and plenty of tail slaps. The fur seals on Cabbage Tree Island were making the most of the sun and having a good old sun bake.
We have found ourself viewing the dominance of a pod of Humpback Whales involved in a heat run this afternoon with two pods combining as one. There was plenty of action within the pod with the males of the pod head lunging, and tail slapping, even looking as though they were aggressively landing on each other and blowing bubbles beneath the surface of the water. The action occurs as the males chasing and vying for the attention of the female.
