4 OCTOBER 2025

Whale Watching Moonshadow TQC Cruises Port Stephens Lee Matthews

What a day on the water! Our morning started with the crew counting between 10 to 15 Humpback Whales cruising the coastline. These whales were initially spending long stretches beneath the surface on deep sounding dives, but before long the ocean came alive with spectacular activity. One by one, the whales began breaching and launching themselves clear of the water, showing off their power and agility — a thrilling display for everyone onboard!

Adding to the excitement, a huge pod of 60+ Offshore Dolphins joined the action, surfing the bow wave of Hinchinbrook Explorer and delighting passengers with their playful energy. For our birdwatchers, the sky and sea were busy too, with numerous Shearwater seabirds gliding gracefully across the waves.

By the afternoon, sea conditions had settled beautifully, making it a perfect Saturday on the Whale Highway. Cruising out wide once again, we encountered a pod of around 10 Humpback Whales, all spending generous time on the surface, allowing passengers plenty of opportunities for photos and close observation.

As we made our way home, the day finished with a visit from our resident Port Stephens Bottlenose Dolphins near Yacaaba Headland — the perfect local welcome back to the bay.

Every day on the water tells a new story, and today was filled with energy, wildlife, and unforgettable encounters. Join us tomorrow with Moonshadow-TQC Cruises to see what the next chapter brings! 🌊🐋🐬
