3 JUNE 2025

We were very lucky to see 2 Humpback whales south of Boondelbah Island heading north this morning. But they weren’t in the right mood and had a long diving time so we moved on and traveled towards Fingal Bay to get more luck. We were stoked to find 3 Humpback whales diving every 5 minutes, spending a lot more time on the surface of the water and having a great time! They were cruising pretty close within 20-30m of the boat. Once we moved away from the beautiful humpbacks we crossed towards Cabbage Tree Island to view the seals and dolphins. The sea conditions were good with little swell but very comfortable. We are super excited to have the Humpback whales back!
Cruise Director Renee has reported another successful Whale Watch Cruise aboard MV Osprey this afternoon. We have cruised straight through the headland at Shoal Bay, in line with Little Island and located a very active Humpback Whale only about 150 meters from the vessel. The whales appears to be on his own, but perhaps communicating with other whales in the area with repetitive tail lobbing creating loud booming noises and white water splashes on the surface of the water. The whale was moving quite slow so we have cruised along at the whales pace to give all our passengers a good view.
