Whale Watching Moonshadow TQC Cruises Port Stephens Lee Matthews

There was a chill in the air this morning, a sure sign that it is whale season at Port Stephens! The time is right to wrap up with plenty of warm winter clothing, especially a scarf and beanie, and to book onto a Whale Watch Cruise with Moonshadow TQC.

Cruising out past Shoal Bay on towards Fingal Island we have spotted two Humpback Whales, as we have motored along at the whales swimming pace we have witnessed the occassional tail slab creating the lovely big splash of white water with the force of their strong peduncle muscle. The peduncle is the large, muscular area between the dorsal fin and the tail and a whale uses this muscle to generate the power when they slap the surface of the water.

We also had an appear of a pod of off shore Common Dolphins and cruised past Cabbage Tree Island on our way home to check out the seals basking in the sunshine.
