Favourable offshore conditions made for a memorable morning aboard the Hinchinbrook Explorer, with passengers treated to a beautiful encounter near Fingal Island.

Our crew spotted a mother humpback whale travelling with her calf as they continued their southbound migration. Both whales spent an extended period at the surface, giving passengers a wonderful opportunity to observe the pair as they journeyed along the Port Stephens coastline.

Seeing a mother and calf together is always a special highlight of the whale-watching season. The sheltered waters and spectacular coastline around Port Stephens provide an important part of the journey for humpbacks travelling south toward their Antarctic feeding grounds.

Every cruise offers something different, and today’s relaxed surface activity was another reminder of how remarkable the annual humpback whale migration truly is.

Join Moonshadow-TQC Cruises aboard the Hinchinbrook Explorer and experience the excitement of whale watching in Port Stephens. You never know what the next cruise may bring!
