The day has started with excitement as we cruised out through the headland at Shoal Bay and on towards Fingal Island we have picked up a pod of 5 – 6 Humpback Whales involved in an action packed heat run. The pod was heading north bound and there was a lot of dominance on display with the males of the pod trying to woo the female of the by showing up other males by barging and head lunging.
Fingal Island Lighthouse is the go to starting point of our whale watch cruise, as at this time of the year once we come around the island we would expect to located pod of migrating whales heading north. This afternoon has been no exception with the crew easily spotting a pod of Humpbacks bearing in a northerly direction. All whales were content in continuing swimming along with all whales spending a good amount of time on the surface of the water. On our way back to the dock we have also sighted a pod of the local Bottlenose Dolphins as we came back into the Bay.
