Whale Sightings

Back to Whale Sightings

19 SEPTEMBER 2025

School was in session out on the Port Stephens Whale Highway today as a young Humpback Whale was busy learning the ropes under the watchful guidance of its mother. Passengers were treated to the special sight of mum demonstrating spectacular head lunges and breaches, with her calf eagerly attempting to copy the moves.

What made the experience even more memorable was the arrival of a playful pod of Dolphins. They darted between the whales, weaving in and out with their typical bursts of speed and energy. Their interaction added a lively, joyful layer to the cruise, reminding us how vibrant and interconnected life is out on the water.

As the whales and dolphins continued their southbound journey, our passengers enjoyed a front-row seat to one of nature’s most unique classrooms. It was a day that perfectly highlighted the beauty of spring whale watching in Port Stephens—where every cruise brings a new chapter in the story of these remarkable marine animals.

At Moonshadow-TQC Cruises, we never take these encounters for granted, and we’re thrilled to share them with you. If you haven’t joined us yet this season, now is the perfect time—book your whale adventure and see for yourself why Port Stephens is Australia’s premier whale-watching destination.
