Whale Sightings

Back to Whale Sightings

17 OCTOBER 2024

With the swells having calmed down after the past few days of not being able to get out, this mornings Whale Watching Cruise onboard MV Osprey did not disappoint.

We decided to travel a little farther out past the islands this morning and glad we did as we soon located a mother, calf and escort. The mother and escort were first to show us some breaching and tail lobbing, then their new calf decided to copy exactly what mother and escort were doing and was displaying the sweetest newly learnt breaching skills! We spent most of our morning watching these three jumping about before we headed over to cabbage tree island where we saw three fur seals enjoying the sun on the rocks.

On our way back in our passengers were also delighted to see a small pod of bottle nose dolphins at Yaccaba Headland.
