Whale Sightings

Back to Whale Sightings

17 JUNE 2025

Port Stephens has turned on a most spectacular winters day to be on cruising on the lookout for the majestic Humpback Whales, with great sea conditions right throughout the day. There are so many pods being seen within close proximiatey and then even more pods further off in the distance. Our passengers aboard the 10am whale watch cruise aboard MV Osprey have spent a good amount of time with a couple of pods of whales; and much to everyone’s delight a breaching whale has caught everyone by surprise – nothing better than seeing a large whale launch itself out of the water.

The afternoon has been a carbon copy of the morning whale watch cruise, again with reports of multiple pods being located fairly quickly once we have come out through the headland at Mt Tomaree. And another breaching whale had everyone entertained.
