Today’s cruise delivered spectacular encounters across multiple pods of Humpback Whales along the Port Stephens Whale Highway.
We spent time travelling with a pod of three whales all the way to Broughton Island, the pod spent time on the surface, allowing everyone plenty of opportunities to watch their tail slaps and relaxed movements. As also encountered four different pods throughout the cruise, each giving passengers wonderful surface time and classic displays of tail flukes breaking through the water.
Close to Little Island, a highlight was spotting a mother and her playful calf. The young whale put on quite the show, breaching repeatedly while staying close to mum’s side—a memory our passengers won’t forget.
Adding to the wildlife spectacle, there was an abundance of Australian Fur Seals basking on the rocks and slipping in and out of the water, much to the delight of photographers onboard.
It was a morning filled with energy, variety, and unforgettable wildlife encounters—another reminder of why Port Stephens is one of the best places to experience the annual whale migration
