Whale Sightings

Back to Whale Sightings

14 JULY 2025

The glorious sunshine continues to beam upon us these School Holidays.  Its gearing up to be fabulous conditions throughout the week and our whale spotters are ready for more action.

Today’s cruise stayed with a mother and calf,  who seamlessly blissful unaware of our presence, meandered their way north to their winter destination.  We could have cruised along them forever  as they were very soothing to watch.  However, we had to turn back to head back home, but not without a stop to visit the Fur Seals at Cabbage Tree Island.  There was a group of 10-12 seals having a lovely little meeting and entertained our passengers with their antics.

Passengers aboard the Hinchinbrook Explorer have had a close encounter with one Humpback Whale passing in near to the boat giving everyone a great view of the large size and presence of a fully grown adult Humpback Whale. There are a number of other pods in the vicinity with all pods traveling north bound at a leisurely pace. We have seen Bottlenose at Moonbar as we cruised through the bay.
