Whale Watching Moonshadow TQC Cruises Port Stephens Lee Matthews

Whales on the Move and Dolphins Along for the Ride

Beautiful sea conditions greeted passengers aboard MV Osprey for this morning’s whale watch cruise, with good numbers of humpback whales continuing their southern migration along the Port Stephens coastline.

Our morning encounter began with a pair of fairly quiet humpbacks travelling on the inside of the offshore island. Following along at the whales’ pace gave everyone time to enjoy watching these magnificent animals move through the water against our spectacular coastal backdrop.

As we cruised south towards Fingal Island, the morning took an exciting turn – a huge pod of Common Dolphins joined us! Their inquisitive nature was on full display as they swam alongside MV Osprey and rode the pressure wave at the bow. With dolphins darting through the water around us, there was plenty for passengers to take in.

The wildlife encounters continued on our return to the harbour. Travelling past Fly Point, we spotted some of Port Stephens’ local bottlenose dolphins, rounding off a wonderful morning on the water.

From quietly travelling humpbacks to an energetic dolphin escort, today’s cruise was a lovely reminder that every trip brings something different. Our encounters unfold at the animals’ own pace, and that is part of what makes watching wildlife in its natural environment so special.

Join Moonshadow-TQC Cruises for a whale watching adventure and discover what the Port Stephens coastline has in store.
