Whale Sightings

Back to Whale Sightings

1 JUNE 2024

The whales were playing a game of hide and seek during our 10am whale watch cruise; we would spot a blow as a whale came to the surface of the water and begin to head in the direction of the water spout but the whale would disappear beneath the water. This happened a few times, another whale would be sighted but just as soon it was gone. Our patience has paid off through as Captain Ben has headed south when turning at Fingal Island to locate a juvenile Humpback Whales resting in one of the little bays of the island. The whale was taking advantage of the bay and the still water, rolling about and slapping the surface of the water. As we have cruised back in through the headland near Mt Yaccaba there was a pod of the local Port Stephens Bottlenose Dolphins.
