Fingal and Broughton Island Cruises

Moonshadow-TQC Cruises and John ‘Stinker’ Clarke, two synonymous names in Port Stephens have joined forces to bring to ‘real life’ the Historical Cruise Series.

We are delighted to be collaborating with local historian, author and radio personality, John ‘Stinker’ Clarke on our new Historical Cruise Series

Climb aboard with Moonshadow-TQC Cruises in Nelson Bay for the cruises to either to beautiful Fingal Island,  Broughton Island or our Western Harbour Cruise.

John breathes life into these fascinating locations and we are looking forward to welcoming passengers on board to visit, learn, and explore our incredible backyard with one of its most renowned neighbours.

Moonshadow-TQC Cruises have been granted access to Fingal Lighthouse by National Parks, giving passengers a once in a lifetime opportunity to climb to the top and take in the extraordinary 360 views of the Port Stephens waterways and beyond. With John’s informative and fascinating commentary and personal experiences on the island, this is truly a unique experience for our passengers.

As you explore this unique lighthouse, lighthouse keepers quarters and nearby bays, hear fascinating stories of the area's past.

The guided tour, by John ‘Stinker’ Clarke focuses on the light keepers, their families and their experiences as well as fascinating stories surrounding the lighthouse

Western Harbour Cruise

On our Western Harbour Cruise travel on MV Spirit of Port as we delve into the remarkable history of the Port’s Oyster Farming stories and local characters. Journey through the estuaries and foreshores on route to Karuah, we will pass Pindimar, Fame Cove, North Arm Cove, hear the stories behind Tahlee House, the Bible College, the challenges facing the Oyster growing industry over the years.

Arrive on the shores of the beautiful Karuah River, where we will be transferred to the newly renovated Karuah RSL for a light lunch and return to Nelson Bay via Soldiers Point, Salamander Bay, Corlette. Historical Broughton Island Cruise

Historical Western Harbour Cruise

  • The Western Harbour Cruise is approximately 7hrs in duration
  • Leaving at 9.30am and returning between 4.00pm
  • A light lunch at the newly renovated Karuah RSL
  •  Numbers are limited so bookings are essential

  • Adults: $149

  • These cruises are not recommended for children under 5 yrs of age
  • Any dietary requirements must be noted at time of booking
  • Please wear sensible walking shoes
  • Please bring sunscreen, hat, camera and suitable back-pack to carry lunch pack provided and additional water
  • Bring water or bottled water available for purchase
  • The walk on the Islands will require a moderate level of fitness. There are sand tracks, and some uneven footing on the walks
  • The walk on Fingal will require a moderate level of fitness. There are steep stairs to in the lighthouse, and some uneven footing on the walks.
  • There is a short, steep incline at the beginning of the walk to access the island
  • There is a transfer from main vessel to a tender vessel which lands on the beach
  • It is recommended to those who suffer or may suffer from motion sickness, take necessary precautions prior to boarding
