Whale Sightings

Back to Whale Sightings

3 OCTOBER 2024

Our 10 a.m. whale watching cruise was an unforgettable experience! We were lucky to encounter two separate pods of humpback whales, each with 2-3 adults and an adorable calf. The best part? They were right between the headlands of Tomaree and Yacaaba, meaning we didn’t have to venture far to witness the magic. Throughout the trip, we were treated to an impressive display of whale behavior—breaches, tail slaps, pectoral fin slaps, and even some spy hopping. It was truly mesmerizing to see these majestic creatures so close.

After spending time with the first pods, we headed over toward Fingal Island, where we spotted six more pods breaching in the distance. Even from afar, their activity was awe-inspiring. On our way back, the excitement didn’t end! As we approached Yacaaba headland, a large pod of around 20 bottlenose dolphins joined us, playfully surfing the bow waves of our boat. It was the perfect ending to a remarkable day out on the water.

Whale season never disappoints!
