Whale Sightings

Back to Whale Sightings

26 AUGUST 2024

There are whales everywhere! The sun is shining at Port Stephens today and we have an abundance of Humpback Whales in all directions once MV Osprey has headed off shore for the 10am Whale Watch Cruise. As we made our way through Shoal Bay we have sighted a pod of the local Bottlenose Dolphins. The crew have reported a lot of breaching action in the distance and then a few whales breaching closer into our location. All the Humpback Whales sighted have been heading south bound along the Port Stephens coastline.

There was a little less action for our afternoon cruisers with only 1 breaching Humpback Whale sighted off into the distance and some slow moving whales taking deep dives moving to the north.  They still gave us a display with tail slaps and pectoral fin slaps.  This afternoons cruise return into the Bay was a bit special with the sighting a mum and calf Bottlenose Dolphin off Little Beach.
