Port Stephens you have shined brightly and put on an amazing winters day, conditions for off shore cruising looking for whales has been nothing short of spectacular today.
Crew report from the Hinchinbrook Explorer, in line with Fingal Island we can see multiple pods of Humpback whales within eye sight. We have spent our time with a pod of four whales who are very relaxed and have approached the vessel quite close on a number of occasions giving all our passengers a thrill to see the mighty Humpback Whale so close.
The Bottlenose Dolphins that we normally would see inside the Bay have also ventured out through the headlands at Shoal Bay this morning, along with off shore Common Dolphins.
During our afternoon cruise we have meet up with a pod of four Humpback Whales that were traveling with quite some speed behind them but spent a good amount of time on the surface of the water. Like this morning, the whales have moved towards the boat at times, and to our passengers delight, have breached near the vessel, with head lunges too.
We are also able to seeing whales breaching in the distance.
